Report an Absence
At East Lane Primary School, we understand that excellent attendance is crucial for the success of our pupils.
As part of our Attendance Policy, we need to inform you about our approach to exceptional leave. You can read more by clicking here.
East Lane Primary School: Absence Information
If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, please inform the school by 7:30 am on the day of the absence by filling out this form.
A clear reason must be provided for the absence, and in some cases, we may request medical evidence.
For any questions, please contact us at our absence email: absence@elps.co.uk
We expect medical and dental appointments to be scheduled outside of school hours whenever possible. Missing lessons, even for appointments, can negatively affect your child’s learning and progress. We do, however, acknowledge that it is not always feasible to arrange appointments outside school time. If your child must attend a medical appointment during the school day, please notify us in advance and provide any necessary appointment documentation.
Late Arrivals and Early Departures
If your child arrives late, they must sign in at the front office before heading to class.
Early departures will only be permitted if a parent or guardian has notified the school in advance, explaining the reason for leaving early.
For any queries, please contact our absence email: absence@elps.co.uk
Leave of Absence During Term Time
Headteachers are no longer able to approve family holidays or extended leave during term time unless exceptional circumstances apply. Taking time off during term means your child will miss important learning opportunities, impacting their education. If you take your child out of school without prior approval, it will be recorded as unauthorised absence, which may result in a fine issued by the Local Authority.
